How Did You Become You?

How Did You Become You?

I was looking through poems on this site to identify with, yet I couldn't find one that fit my current emotions. Naturally, I wrote one and am going to immediately post it. This poem is about someone who sort of fades into your life and end up meaning the world to you.
You.
You are one of those people
That so effortlessly slip
Into my unsuspecting life.
You are one of those people
That can go unnoticed at first,
Later only to have me wonder;
How?
How did you embed yourself
So thoroughly into my mind?
Unnoticed. How?
How could I ever not notice you?
How could you not be in my thoughts?
In my mind? My heart?
How did I not see this happening,
So quickly,
So slowly,
So certain,
So tedious,
So naturally,
So irrationally.
How did you manage
All of these things?
You came in and I had
Little opinion of you.
Just another face.
Just another name.
Your face changed.
Your name changed.
They morphed so gradually,
So subtly,
So beautifully,
Into you.
Into the you that is now
Unshakable.
That is now at such
High importance.
That is now one name,
One face.
One heart.
That is now
Someone I need.

I was sitting in my bed room trying to figure out how much I love my girlfriend I cried and I thought nothing came to mind so I closed my eyes and words just started to appear in my mind. I imagined the sea and the beach and me proposing to the love of my life. I want to marry this girl so please accept this poem. I poured my heart and soul into it!

My Vow

I've made a vow, to no one but you,
I pledge my love for you to forever be true,
I'll take care of you and treat you right,
I'll lay beside you all through the night,
I'll feed you and keep you warm all through the night,
I'll hug you and kiss you and give you shelter when there is a storm,
I'll help you and guide you and clear a path,
I'll protect you and shield you from an any man's wrath,
I'll listen to your problems help you solve them too,
I'll make you a rainbow and let all the sunshine shine through,
I'll take your side even when you're wrong,
Just to prove my love for you is strong,
I'll plant you flowers and help them grow,
They'll be a symbol of love that we will only know,
I'll whisper your name when no one is near,
So low that only you can hear,
You'll feel my love even if we're miles apart,
You will always know we are one in heart.

I dedicate this to the love of my life always and forever!

Words from a man, for when a woman wonders what he's thinking when they hang up.

Our Phones

"When you text me, I can't seem to open the text fast enough to read it.
When you call me, I fumble my phone in a rush to answer.
When I talk to you on the phone, I want to reach through and caress your beautiful face.
When there's silence on the phone, I want your phone to be my lips kissing your ear.
When you speak, the rest of the World is silent to me.
When we hang up, I stare at your name on my phone and I smile.
So before I close my eyes to begin my sweet dreams of you, I hold my phone close to my heart, and hope that all my love for you will keep us connected."
A quick, short poem I put together. It fits into a theme of love/falling in love, a subject in which I am interested in. I have tried to descried the words in how I feel and what it means to me. I hope you like it!
